Enabling MFA – cPanel
Enabling MFA – cPanel
At Texas Fixer and Cloudifi, we are committed to ensuring the highest level of security for your digital assets. In light of increasing cyber threats, we are now enforcing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on all cPanel accounts.
MFA adds an extra layer of protection, making your accounts more secure by requiring two forms of verification. Setting up MFA is straightforward and involves using the Google Authenticator app for generating verification codes. Below, you’ll find step-by-step instructions on how to download and set up Google Authenticator on your device (Android or Apple) and configure MFA on your cPanel account. Your cooperation and prompt action in setting up MFA are greatly appreciated to keep your account secure.
How to Set Up and Use MFA with cPanel
Step 1: Download Google Authenticator
– For Android users, download Google Authenticator from the Google Play Store.
– For Apple users, download it from the Apple App Store.
Step 2: Configure 2FA on Your cPanel Account
1. Log in to your cPanel account and navigate to the “Security” section.
2. Click on “Set Up Two-Factor Authentication.”
3. To link your cPanel account with Google Authenticator:
– Scan the displayed QR code with the Google Authenticator app to automatically create the link.
– Alternatively, you can manually enter the provided Account and Key information into the app.
4. Open Google Authenticator on your device to retrieve a six-digit security code. Note that this code refreshes every 30 seconds.
5. Enter the six-digit code in the “Security Code” text box on the cPanel setup page. Remember, you have 30 seconds to do this before the code refreshes.
6. Click “Configure Two-Factor Authentication” to complete the setup.
